Well how much is the seller asking for, and what kind of condition is it in?
Re: thinking of buy a camaro 1985. but not sure
well it's in ok condition. paint is a little flat. its got edelbrock carb, tubuler headers, B+M shifter, TH400 gearbox,11 mot no tax. and he said i can have it for £1600. he said is got a little blue smoke on start up and he had it tested and it has low compression.
he said this was the test results. should be 175 down to 125. and all the others as down to 150. but i have no idea what that means lol.

Welcome to TGO, super.
Just an FYI (though you may already be aware): an 85 wouldn't have a 350 unless it's been swapped in.
Good luck.

I'm guessing fried pistons rings or bad head gaskets (or valve seals?). But then again, I'm not exactly an expert just yet so wait for someone else to verify my analysis.
I'd see if I could score it for a few hundred pounds less (Guys, the asking price is about $2500 USD), but if you're not ready to get into the engine and work on it, don't get it.

Why would you get rid of a perfectly good 350 (albeit needing some work) for a 305?? Everything that's stock flows like crap, so you'd be better off keeping it as it is and finding out what the problem is.
Do A LOT more research on here and elsewhere. Also, subscribe to at least 2 hot-rodding magazines, one of which is Chevy-oriented

I don't know if automotive prices over there are inflated, but that's about twice what you would pay in this country.
If you are truly interested in this car take it to a mechanic and have it checked out properly, including a good compression test. You are not looking for specific compression numbers so much as you are looking for lack of variation. They also need to check it wet and dry to rule out bad rings.
Why? Magazines sold in this country are nothing more than advertising flyers for companies selling bolt-on Chinese chrome junk.
