Can I just jack the rear up?

I recently got a new 3 ton jack and I'm ready to jack something up. It just so happens that I need to remove the fuel tank to check some connections. My question: will I be able to remove the tank with only the rear on stands, or should I lift the front too? It's no big deal if I have to jack up the front, I just have to borrow two of my neighbor's stands.
Thanks!

Re: Can I just jack the rear up?

you will have to put the rear of the car on stands and remove the axle assembly as a whole I tried to remove the tank to get out some old gas in there and found it just wouldn't slide out so save yourself some hassle an take out the whole thing just disconnect the park cable brake line and lower control arms and slide it out from underneath if you think you might need new rear brakes now is time while you have things apart good luck with your project
