VATS bypass problems PLEASE HELP!!!!!

ok I own a 89 Camaro RS (Lo3).... long story short, when I would try to start my car sometimes it would crank right up, other times it would just do nothing at all. I bought a universal start button, bypassed the VATS and got it to spark up, but then in the moment of celebration I shut off my car and it wouldn't start.. after a few minutes I discovered that by hitting the side of the steering to the right would allow my car to start, even with the push button??? anyone know what might be going on ???? starter is fine, battery is good. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED I would like to be doing that again

If you mean you only bypassed the starter enable relay controlled by VATS then you did not bypass VATS ( has 2 parts ; starter and fuel ) so it is still operational and reading the resistor in the key where obviously you have bad connection cured by hitting the column,

I also bypassed the VATS by soldering a resister to it, then the car started. just to find out when i hit the steering wheel it starts ? It will crank over with the universal starter switch I installed but will not turn over until i hit the steering wheel?could it be my ignition switch? or maybe the lock cylinder ? how can i trouble shoot?
