305 tbi map sensor questions

hey guys,
new guy here.. i got a 88 firebird 305tbi that is giving me such a headache. its my project car so luckily i have another car. anyway, im trying to determine if my computer is shot but unfortunately, havent found any luck. so, i followed some directions posted on a older thread about checking the voltage on my map, and it said that if my "c" read 5volts, and "b" read the same, that the map is shot.. well, i replaced it and it still says the same thing.. i got 12v running through, and the car at running temp idle is at approx 1.0 to 1.1v. any help will suffice.. and the ground is at 12v also..( 11.9v to be exact..) has anybody encountered this?? as soon as my car heats up it wants to die as if its not getting gas at all... i turn it off for a min, and it wants to take off, then, it dies out a couple min later.. thanks again everyone...

Make sure the map is hooked to the proper port. Measure the vacuum there, should be around 18" or higher. Check ignition timing as well.
Is the check eng. light on? If it is. then start there.

the check engine light is off, and when i jump it, theres no codes stored. the timing is fine. i know i got a rusty gas tank, gotta start with replacing that. my fuel filter keeps getting clogged and when i unclog it, its brownish red.

Does the check engine light come on when you key it on? If not, it could be a bad ECM or just that somebody pulled the bulb on the Check Engine light so it wasn't on solid when they were trying to sell the car.

Figure that out first, then go after individual components like the MAP. Having a scan tool is also extremely handy when working on EFI cars. It's very difficult to know what's going on unless you are seeing things the way the ECM is seeing them.

So the light works but you can't "paperclip" any codes out of it (not even a code 12)? If so, either you're jumping the wrong pins on the ALDL or the ECM is toast.

it use to show codes.. in other words, it told me it was my map sensor 34 i think, and lean exhaust. after i changed the map, i reset it to let the computer recognize the new map. no codes. but doesnt run right.
