AIR injection not standard?
AIR injection not standard?
from what ive read, it would seem that the air injection system is equipped on all vehicles. my question is....is it really? i have two cars, an 86 iroc and an 84 trans am. both have the 305 vin h motor in them. aside from one having a/c they are both mechanically identical. neither one of them has any remnants of an air injection system. both have the exact same catalytic converter, neither one of them with an air tube. neither car has any fittings on the exhaust manifolds for any air tubes. i purchased these cars at different times from different owners in different locations in the province of ontario. can anyone explain to me what is going on here? im trying to find a replacement cat for the trans am, but i can only find cats with air tubes....
Re: AIR injection not standard?
Well, being an export car, that might explain it. They have different emission standards up there.
Look under the history resto boards.

Re: AIR injection not standard?
Canadian export cars didn't have AIR injection or computer command control as standard equipment. The emission standards weren't as strict as the US at the time. The CCC and AIR could be optioned for about $400.
Re: AIR injection not standard?
that really explains it all now. my cars do not have the ccc in them either. i figured someone removed the ccc, but it almost seemed odd that neither car had the ccc. i guess i should be happy that the cars dont have any of that computer stuff....
