Recently, I pruchase a 92 RS with a 383 (carb) and all the guages malfunction. Help

 

What do you mean by malfunction? No power to them? Incorrect readings? Fluctuating readings? Pegged out? Have you checked the fuses?

Odometer provides error speed readings. Tech needle swings back forward error readings. The oil pressure and fuel level guages are dead. The AMP meter is showing a normal charge.

 

Have you done any troubleshooting so far?
Any chance you could post a pic of your gauges or maybe a vid?
I don't think I've ever seen a 92 with an AMP meter before.

Without any more clues I could guess that maybe the cluster connection is loose. A friend of mine recently suggested that a bad bulb could possibly cause malfunctions with some of the dash gauges.

 

Thank you for your help. The car has a 700R4 transmission in it. I'm thinking the car odometer is set up for a 4L60. The Tech is setup for a TPI fuel injection system distributor and the car has a regular carburator distributor in it. I'm thinking these modifications are causing the guages error readings.
