I have a 1990 Firebird 305 tbi v8 auto trans,all stock.
Drove home last tonight,went out to start the car about 30 minutes later and nothing happens,no clicks,no nothing.There is power to everything when ignition is turned,but nothing happens,starter makes no sound at all.
The security light is not on so I don't think it's vats related.It doesnt come on and flash and then go off when key is turned either.

I turned the key to the on position and shifted up and down to see of maybe it might be the neutral safety switch,but it wouldnt start in either park or neutral.

The starter motor and solenoid were recently replaced about 6 months ago so I know that's not the problem.

Has anyone here had this problem and can offer some advice..is there a starter relay on these cars that fails?

I need to get it running again asasp.thanks!

 

Never mind guys, Vats strikes again!
What threw me was the security light wasn't coming on at all,tried the resistor trick and it starts right up! Now I can track down angel and get that $50 he owes me.

 

Someone actually removed the bulb and socket from behind my security screen, so mine also never came on. You could have the same issue, you'd have to pull the gauges though and check.
