Thought i had a bad valve but the pcv is making a tapping noise. Any idea what may cause this. I know its the pcv valve for sure. I removed it and the little valve inside was tapping rapidly.

also the pcv is new.

 

Shows it is working correctly.
If you can't get it to rattle you have problems

 

its real loud tho. hmm maybe ille try a different brand

 

Have you checked your vacuum with a gauge?

 

Nothing to a PCV valve. Just a spring and plunger in a housing. take the vacuum hose off and hold your finger over the end. If you feel the vacuum surging you need to start tracing back to the vacuum source. Perhaps there is a restriction. If the vacuum doesn't surge then get a different valve. I know you said it's new, but perhaps the spring is bad or it's the wrong part number.
