camshaft help
ive been researching and trying to find a good cam for my application.im trying to lose the mentality of a bigger cam is better cuz i know that is wrong. id appreciate any help i can get. im looking for a hyd flat tappet. i was looking at the summit k1106 as a start
my setup is:
82 camaro
weekend driver....no i dont baby this car
3.73 gears
t56 trans
462624 heads ported and polished 1.94 1.5 valves comp roller tip 1.52 rockers 3 angle valve job
hardened pushrods
350 .030 over hyperutectic flat tops
recon gm x rods
cast gm crank
1 5/8 primary long tube headers
true duals
performer rpm intake
holley vac sec 750
mallory unilite dist
msd 6al box
my previous cam is an erson high flow 2 234/.234 @ .050 dur .472/.472 lift

That said, that old generic copy of an even older generic copied copy of a generic copy of a generic copied generic copy of a generic cam design, is not the right cam for you, especially given your CR which will be in the low to mid 8s.
Fix that, and come back for the next step.

yeah the CR is between 8.8 and 9.2. the heads have been shaved but im not sure how much. regardless im aware i have smog heads. im just looking for a cam that will work the best with what i have until i get new heads

If you just want something cheeeeep and dirty to get it running and you'll throw away when you fix the underlying malfunction, I'd suggest going smaller rather than bigger on the cam. The 1103 would be ALOT smarter than that other one.
Just an FYI, with 4.030" bore and 3.48" stroke, .039" gasket, .045" deck clearance, 76cc chambers, and 6cc valve reliefs, the calculated CR is about 8.3:1. To get from there to 8.8: 1 you'd have to shave the heads about .042", which .... ummmmm... ,,,,, ........ yeah. Be careful about overestimating your CR.
