2.8 vacuum

trying to replace vacuum lines and I noticed I have this valve or what ever. It has lines going to it and a opening on the side of it. trying to figure out where that goes?

There is alot of other tiny leaks can I just plug and cap them to see if the car runs better?

Re: 2.8 vacuum

Looks like an egr valve, disable it by plugging the vacuum hose. Then drive to see if it runs better, then figure out the problem afterwards.

I thought the egr valve is attached to the exhaust manifold? This thing is just hanging there. Ill try plugging them in the morning.

Re: 2.8 vacuum

I am thinking about removing the complete intake to replace the gaskets and check the injectors. I am just a little nervous on doing so with all the brittle vacuum lines every where.

Re: 2.8 vacuum

Ok Instead of opening a new topic I wanted again to ask for help on this.

almost all of my lines are brittle and breaking every where. I am having trouble even with a diagram.

Now on my upper intake I have a T coming off the back of it. One part of the T is going to my brake booster?

Then the other side(passenger side) of the T has nothing connected to it? Does any one know what plugs in there?

Then on the lower intake near the distributor I have a vacuum port with a T that connects a BIG line from the TB then connects to the line that has the PCV. is that correct and how it should be?

I know I have the diagram but it seems like who ever owned it before spliced and diced and I have more vacuum lines then carter has pills and not sure what to do with them I guess ill replace it like the above pic and whats left over ill throw away.
