Who can name this mystery part in my Engine Bay

Car: 82 Camaro; in process of resto
Engine: 350 4bbl.
Transmission: 700R4 with B&M Lockup
Axle/Gears: Moser 28-spline axle; 3.23 gears
Who can name this mystery part in my Engine Bay

This is mounted to the firewall on the driver's side near the brake cylinder. It has a rigid vacuum line going into the firewall with the AC/Fan wires. It has another port on it as well with a vacuum hose nub attached to it, but it is only about an inch long and isn't connected to anything.

What is this thing? I don't run with a computer...do I need it?

It controls your heater switching from defrost,vent, floor, etc.
