Base TIMING for THIS CAM
Base TIMING for THIS CAM
i have a pretty stock 89 iroc 350 tpi with pulley kit on crank and water pump hooker headers 3 inch exhaust. i did an engine rebuild and used this cam. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-104224/
what im trying to figure out is where should the timing be at with this cam because i set it at 6 BTDC and the engine runs poorly, slow sluggish throttle, shifts at high rpms, the idle is high, hard to get past 30mph and i know my timing marks are accurate.
ive been at this for months and cant figure it out any help towards the right direction would be appreciated

Ignition timing isn't significantly affected by the cam.

Re: Base TIMING for THIS CAM
base timing is for easy starting both cold and hot.
a couple of thoughts, is it kicking any codes?
when you set the timing, you did unplug the timing set connector and then plugged it back in, right?
