The car ran fine no probs I did not do anything to the cam, crank or timing chain. I put new heads and intake on. Its the stock dizzy with new msd parts. Its a 305 small cap. I pint the oil shaft to #1 tdc and when it drops in its aiming st8 ahead maybe alittle to the driver side but more so str8. I jump gears all that stuff 180 nothing its ether at # 3-7

With the EST wire disconnected and the engine running you can determine which cylinder the coil is phased to by using your timing light. move the timing light's spark pick-up wire from the #1 plug-wire to the #3 wire, etc... until you see what you've got there.
Don't understand the "jump gears" comment.
You have to remember that since the gears are angled on the cam and dist you can't just drop it straight in on #1, because the rotor moves as the gears engage. You often have to re-align the oil pump drive so that the dist gear will fully seat with the rotor pointing to #1 post.

Re: dizzy install help
Use a big screwdriver to turn the oil pump drive till the slot is facing the #1 cylinder. then turn the crank until the timing mark lines up with 6 deg on the timing tab. just make sure you are TDC (Valves should be closed, meaning the rocker arms on #1 aren't moving). Drop in the dizzy. If the dizzy is not facing where you want it after that try turning the oil pump drive a little more CCW.
