plug wires too close to manifolds/ypipe?

i was underneath the car trying to get at the spark plugs on the drivers side and i noticed the plug wires were awfully close, just about touching both the manifold and one was hitting where the y pipe starts...i know those areas get pretty hot, will this turn into a problem in anyones opinion? im hoping as long as the wires arent touching theyll be fine, but its better to be safe than sorry. thanks for any help.

Best bet would be to re-route them so they have a bit more clearance.

yeah, i hope i have enough slack to move them, i wonder where they normally go stock...i know that doesnt necessarily matter, ill take a look to see if i have a better placement option. is a couple inches enough distance away to protect the wires?

i think one would be hard pressed to find a better routing for the wires than what the GM manual specifies. if you dont have headers ,that is.1357 goes under the manifold where 2468 goes over the manifold. also the factory wireset has two straight ends with the rest being 90 deg.the two straight ones go to cyls #2&4. i hope this helps

ok, sweet that does help, thanks! everything is in the right place technically then, im just kinda hoping the wires will be ok being as close as they are to manifolds etc. i kinda wonder why they decided to do it that way instead of making them the same. anyone know if there are sleeves or anything to go over the wires? i know the wires are in the right place, but i just have trouble believing they couldnt get damaged being so close to the hottest part of the motor..

You can use zip ties to move the wires away from the exhaust. Last week my car was acting funny and I was getting terrible gas mileage for weeks. I found out one of my wires was melted to the exhaust manifold and the other was burnt down to the actual conductor wire where it was shorting out on the motor.
