So I got a 84 Z28 Carburated engine with a manual transmission. and i just wanna knwo if anyone out there has the same year car as me to find out approximately what kind of gas mileage I'm getting becuase my fuel gauge is broken...Im just estimating that I am getting about 15 MPG in the city and about 20 on the freeway....

 

There's no way 2 cars, no matter how similar they started out, especially of this age, are going to be gauranteed to get the same mpg. Will have differing state of tune/wear/repair, driving style, type of traffic etc etc.

Fill the tank, note the mileage. Drive it till u reckon it's getting empty, then refill the tank. Mpg is then miles you did over gallons you put in. Average this over a few fills to get better accuracy.

 

yep,just like a dyno of the same cars will not make the same numbers.

 

Do you have a trip meter? Divide the number of gallons it takes to fill the tank into that number. If not, write down your odometer reading at every fill up. Subtract your last reading from your current reading and divide the number of gallons it took to fill the tank into that and you have a pretty accurate picture of your mileage.

 

I have an 84 sport coupe V8 automatic and I get about 15 mpg.
