Possible oil pressure problem

ok so when i first start my car in the morning i have good oil presure around 30 and as my rpms go up so does the presure. but once the car is warm the oil drops to about 15 or ten and when i am at lower rpm i have no oil presure and sometimes the car will stall at a stop. is my engine toast or could this be oil pump problems. any help would be great thanks!

Re: Possible oil pressure problem

there are several posibilitys for the low pressure reading
including:
-worn oil pump
-excess clearance in the engine such as worn cam
bearings
-false gauge reading
Do you get any lifter clatter at idle with the oil warm?

I dont notice any clatter but after I drove it and noticed low presure I havent driven it again just in case so I'm not a hundred percent about the noise

Re: Possible oil pressure problem

The stalling is because the factory oil pressure sender includes a fuel pump cutoff switch. I think it triggers around 4 psi of oil pressure. I would install a mechanical oil pressure gauge to verify the readings you are getting. I've had a sender break and it read really low. If your gauge is working correctly, you may need a new oil pump or an engine rebuild. The pumps is relatively easy to replace and you can disassemble it to look for damage/wear. If it checks out you need to pull the engine for new bearings, at the least.
