Hotter / More powerfull Cam for L69 5.0L H.O

Hi, im just in the process of building up my 84 camaro, it has a 305 l69 engine it just recently got new exsaust and it sounds great, just wondering what would be the best cam to drop in it to increase power?, I would like more power up top, i dont want to do any extensive engine work or modifications, just something to give it more grunt in the higher rpms thanks

The stock 305 heads don't have exceptional flow, so I would concentrate on a cam with more duration than stock, but with a wide lobe separation angle in order to keep the power band high. Likewise, most cams come with 4 degrees of advance ground into them, so you may want to get a custom grind without the advance, or buy an adjustable timing set so you can retard it. Cams come with advance because everybody gets too much cam, and having the advance brings the power band down.

So, more duration than stock, wide-ish LSA and no more than 2 degrees of advance. Depending on your other mods, maybe a 215/220 with a 114 lsa and no advance. If you intend to keep the stock exhaust manifolds, then get more exhaust duration.

Scroll down to the cam spec section. 84 isn't listed, but I think it's the same as 85.
