How do I remove

Hi,

I have a 1991 350 Camaro and need to remove the starter, it has the dual cats but they have been removed, I tried to get the starter out and it is stuck from coming out by the exhaust. How can i get this out?

Mike

Re: How do I remove

A lot of finessing! Make sure you have jack stands installed and good lighting; a flashlight or headlamp will be additionally helpful. Once the bracket bolts are out and the wiring disconnected, it's a whole lot of twisting and lifting. I did it a few weeks ago and it was at least an hour of contorting (and swearing) before I got it out. The difficulty lies in the pipe - located under the starter - being in the way. Stupid design!
