NEED HELP my 91 305 randomly wont start!
alright, the day it happened i drove it 5 times for about 30 miles on the 4th drive i noticed that when i reversed it didnt roll at all i had to give it a lot of gas to get out of the driveway (shouldve stayed) i only drove a little more than a mile and the car was at 230 (i have direct intake setup so the fan starts when the car starts) it was on the whole time. i got it home and then i had to move it later for somebody to get out of the driveway. next morning i went to start it all the coolant overflowed (no overflow bucket) filled that back up, started it (very poor start) smell of burnt oil (i suspect that the transmission overheated) and when i turned the ignition the fuel pump made noise by the back passenger tire (normally only the fan would kick on for a second with the igniton) i dont know much so i turned it off and left it. my dad checked it out the next day and the car wouldnt start anymore, the fuel pump isnt making the noise, the fan isnt kicking on (i unplugged it like 3 times) and the check engine light is NOT coming on when you turn the ignition.
Please i hope somebody has experience with my problem.

Sounds like your problem is two-fold. The overheating is probably being caused by a stuck thermostat or failed water pump. As for your no start, you need to test the fuel pressure to see if it's within spec. If you're not getting any or it drops rapidly, then you probably need another fuel pump.

alright, well he just left. this car is hillbilly rigged to the next level.
their was one 20A fuse supporting the fuel pump, the cooling fans, and the ignition and god knows what else its a mess from hell of wires. we put a 30A on and i tried to start it and it immediately blew. we pulled the ground from the fan put a new 25A on and it started up nice ran for a while. obviously theirs a short somewhere in the fans he tried to manually start the fans and they wouldnt so i have to get new fans. the smell of burnt oil is actually coolant probably from not having the overflow bucket.
i drove it around the block and it drove alright but their is no fans so it will overheat real quick.
but their is just a hellish mess of wires, grounds that dont connect places, live wires hangin around, this car is a FIRE HAZARD.

how does someone hook all this stuff up to one 20A fuse im surprised it ran as long as it did without blowing the fuse. so i guess the next part of the project is to get new fans splice in its own fuse, splice a fuse for the fuel pump, and figure out what all these wires that dont go anywhere do...i mean theirs speaker wires being used as grounds wtf...
i guess it wasnt that bad of a trade though. i traded my 99 mustang 3.8 v6 174xxx miles, for my 91 z28 141xxx miles. the same night that the camaro stopped starting he texted me and said the engine died in the mustang. he took this camaro to the track and everything though i imagine he beat on that tired v6 for a whole 3 minutes before it blew on him.

Use your manual to try and trace wires to where the fuses should be. Wiring it back up right now, might just save you a bunch of headaches later.

unfortunately its not around my schedule, my expert wire guy said this is going to take him a few trips, he wanted me to drive it to his house 7 miles away without fans. i wish it was that easy to just trace the wires back but this guy i traded used this camaro as a drag racer and anytime something needed fixed he bypassed **** and did it wrong to fix it real quick. gladly its not my headache other than the money and time its going to take for him to complete this mess.
i just bought a new stock dual fan and should have it soon, im going to get all new wiring and gut out all the mess.

I'm sorry to hear of your trials. These cars are getting older and many people just don't respect them for what they are. They are a naturally fast car due to their great suspension and body design. Too many people have used them for race cars and left them beat up. These cars are very worthwhile as project cars. I have spent at least 200 hours and $30,000 on mine, upgrading and restoring it. It's worth every cent and every minute.

I'm sorry to hear of your trials. These cars are getting older and many people just don't respect them for what they are. They are a naturally fast car due to their great suspension and body design. Too many people have used them for race cars and left them beat up. These cars are very worthwhile as project cars. I have spent at least 200 hours and $30,000 on mine, upgrading and restoring it. It's worth every cent and every minute.
i like the half effort half results signature, that pretty much describes it, but other than buying a truck for winter every cent i have is pretty much going into this car. 30 G's is a lot of money i hope to stay in the 10G range making this car a dream come true.

You just said the magic words. Having a second vehicle is the key. That way you are not stressed to have you F-Body running all the time. If you need to tear it down for a thorough repair, you have alternate transportation. When I first built the Beasty, I had an S-15 pickup that I bought for $500 with a broken crank and fixed for a daily driver. Today, I have a pile of 99 Suzuki Swift. I don't care that I drive such a pile. It's very cheap on gas and if anyone laughs at it I laugh back knowing that the car tucked safely away in my garage will eat just about whatever they drive for lunch.

ASE doc - i was going to get a 90's s10 blazer in the area of $1200 hopefully. it was real cold this morning and i got a good drive out of it, around 10-12 mile drive revving on it a little hard, pulled in the driveway and it was at 190ish i was happy with it. if anything i get insulted more in the camaro than any other car ive driven i live in a not so nice neighborhood, when i bought the car i got called a d-bag .5 miles from where i bought the car.

Im sorry. Too many idiots around. But what do they know. I didn't build my car for them. I built it for me and I enjoy every minute of working on it, driving it, and just owning it. Some days, even after owning her for 14 years, I just look at her and think Wow! this is really my car and then I take her out on the open road and step into the gas and I fall in love all over again. As soon as I get to breathing normal again, cause honestly my car scares the s**t out me sometimes. Sounds like a sappy love story huh? Lol

if i was driving a beater i would feal pretty lousy after some insults but when im in the camaro it just makes my ego bigger. it felt really good for that to happen so close to where i bought it, when i drove the mustang i never once got insulted over a year and a half. i already love it so much more than i ever cared about the mustang, i cant imagine when i have it up to 300rwhp and running clean
