Jumper cable question.
I could'nt really find an answer for this but a friend and I were pondering if you can use jumper cables without a battery in one of the vehicles. Meaning, run the cables from your running car with a battery directly to the cables in the batteryless car. Say if you needed to close a window, power a trunk or whatever.

Sure you can. But if it is say.....A junkyard car.....There could be bare wires power laying somewhere touching ground causing a short circuit.

Thanks for the info. Also, yes, a junkyard card would be a bad idea to do that on. That you'd definately want to use a car battery with. Better to lose a battery then fry your working car's system.

Re: Jumper cable question.
If it was just a car with a dead battery that you lost the keys to but had remote lock/unlock doors, that would work IF you could get to the battery cables with the doors closed & no external hood latch like the early cars had, unlike the 3rd gens do. I have seriously considered adding an external hood release for that very reason.
