Smoke only at start up
1987 Camaro IROC-Z, 157,000 miles, 305 TPI.
She starts right up. No hesitation at all. Plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fluids, etc are all new. But...I get a huge puff of smoke out of the tail pipes when I start the car, then it goes away. Here is the odd thing...some times its white and some times is blue/white and smells. Nothing is leaking under the car.
This only happends when the car is cold. If I drive it around, park it for a little while, then re-start there is no smoke.
Just an old enigine or a real problem?

A very high percentage it's valve seals.I like to do the job right and although you can replace the seals with the heads on,I prefer to remove the heads for a complete valve job checking the valve guides at the sametime.
