Distributor question
Distributor question
I am building a TPI motor for my s10 and am having trouble tracking down the right distributor for it. I am wanting to use one of the large HEI units. Is it possible to piece one together using a vacum advance HEI or maybe one from a TBI motor and just replace the the module that hooks up to the wiring harness?

Re: Distributor question
i got plenty of room for the large HEI. just having problems finding the right one. i have a HEI from a TBI motor but the plug is different and im wondering if i can just replace the module inside the distributor with one from the parts house.

Re: Distributor question
The early tbi hei's will work , in tpi f- body's they were used in 85-86 and in vettes 85-91. you can use a acdelco 19179581 {#10482832, D1961A}. A cmaro and corvette icm will allow rpm limiter to work with the memcal reprograming , tbi's will not.

Re: Distributor question
If you are using a roller cam don't forget to change your gear.
