Axle/Gears: 3.42

Ring Gap?!

I am file fitting a set of Mahle rings (4005MS-15) and they suggest a .018" top gap and .014" second gap for my application (Top ring formula was bore x .045 and 2nd ring was bore x .035).

I have always heard the 2nd ring was to be gapped wider so what's the deal?
