A guy I met at an after school activity liked my car and offered to give me some free parts. I do not know the brand or dimensions or any specifics at all, but he is giving me a camshaft, crankshaft, flat head pistons, heads, and rods. I'm not stupid so I know with this minute amount of information you guys can't tell me hardly anything, but what kind of power gains will that give me. Just major ballparking. I know most that stuff will give alot of power in conjunction with other mods. I am planning on boosting eventually so I believe these will really help in that area. I currently have full three inch exhaust and headers as my only mods. Just want to know what kind of power I could see out of these new parts alone added to my current set up.

 

Crankshaft, if 350 will not give a power gain but may be stronger. Is it 1 pc rr main or older 2 pc rr main seal crankshaft?
Cam see if ther is any info on it, name or numbers. Too many cams to guess.
Heads, give us the number that is cast on them under the valve cover.
Rods, no power gains but may be stronger. Get a picture or try to find numbers and a very good description.
Flat top pistons will increase compression ratio and increase power but what is the head cc. Overall increase in power would be determined by the cam and head choice as well.
In other words we need more information about these parts.

You can't just "ballpark" with that information. You might as well draw numbers from a hat, that's how much power you're going to make. You haven't told us anything so there's nothing we can tell you. My guess is since you have NO clue what you're getting you'll probably lose power. I don't know ANYONE who just gives free parts away (that are decent parts). Even friends want money out of it, albeit a very good deal. $10 says you just helped him clear out more garage space with junk he had.

 

However very possible. However I would stay on the lower end of that scale.

But to be a nice guy I will answer your question. You will gain somewhere in between "hardly anything" all the way to "considerable" with a chance of falling right on "decent".

There's nothing ******* about it. You can't just give vague information like that and expect a serious answer.. like that, for example. Boosted S10. That means NOTHING. Boosted with what? What motor? what compression? what trim? What gears? What transmission? What car, even?

See what I'm saying? There's too many variables in that equation. I've seen cars run low 11's with modified "stock" heads... but it's in a 400 small block with a pissload of gear and a gutted interior. That doesn't mean you'll run 11's with same heads.

Our answer is simple. Figure out what you have, then come back and ask again. Serial numbers, part numbers, casting numbers, SOMETHING TO GO BY.. and we can help. Otherwise we're just rolling the dice and guessing.

 

I gave you 3 answers all just as valid. Your question would be akin to asking "someone is going to give me a shotgun what model and gauge will it be?"

 

This is simple. It will be a brand starting with a letter A to Z and a gauge from .410 up through 10 ga. Ithaca 10ga. if you are selling it to me cheap. lol

To the OP I asked for numbers at the beginning knowing full well that the others who replied here (much smarter than I am) would need that information.
It is a mistake to think that anyone can give accurate information because you said the S10 was boosted and really nothing else. Boosted how? How much boost? What year s10. What weight S10? Now still back to the parts to know compared to what you currently have. I would bet the crankshaft will not be useable due to 2 pc rr main seal. If put together properly that boosted engine was put together and components chosen for the type and amount of boost. This could very well mean a loss of power based on what you have currently however I would bet a small gain from an increased compression ratio anyways.
I am hoping this helps explain why we still have no real information.
