Probably leaking plugs in the bottom of the carburator
main body draining the float bowl as car sits for a few
hrs-leading to long crank time to refill bowl and start.
This is a pretty common quadrajet fault, escpecially with
early '80s era q-jets-i had an '84 q-jet on my car for a
while that did the came thing, had to take carb off, clean
and use a little peening of the leakey plugs and some
epoxy sealer fixed the draindown problem and restored
quick starts.
