Idle problem

1991 GTA
350 TPI
Automatic

So, for the past couple of months, my car has had idle problems. Usually it starts and runs fine. On the morning commute it isn't too bad. On the way home, however, it idles very poorly. It's almost like the engine is going to putter out and then it surges to stop itself from doing so. A couple of times, the RPMs did drop to low and I had to restart the car. When I get on the gas, the problem seems to go away, until it gets to idle RPMs again.

I had a similar problem on another vehicle of mine (which really reved out of control) and that turned out to be the idle control valve.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Thanks!
Bill

Re: Idle problem

Mine is doing the same thing and I thought it might be the ignition module going out. Free bump for more input...
