mechanic says my carbs to small

progress on my camaro has been slow, and i'm really regretting not putting a 350 in when i had my engine out however at the moment im stuck with this 305 and ill be damned it i wont get some power out of it. took it to the mechanic today because it bogs down when you floor it. His response was that the holly street avenger 570cfm is to small, and i should have left the quadra jet on it. opinions?

stock 305 with headers, intake, and the street avenger carb.

570 seems fine for a near stock 305

Re: mechanic says my carbs to small

what would be causing my motor to bog down, it feels like its got half the hp it use to. i realize its just a little 305 but it has very little hp

Re: mechanic says my carbs to small

It just sounds like it needs to be tuned. I run a 600cfrm on a 355 with no problems at WOT.

Are your secondaries opening correctly?

Nah not too small at all, my boss has a 383 sbc that has 460hp runs with a 550cfm 2bbl. Your carb may need to be cleaned and tuned too.

Re: mechanic says my carbs to small

this is practically a new carb, less then 250 miles on it. Its been on the motor for a while now though, just has never been tuned. Really hope this mechanic does a good job.
