smog pump question

84 z28 h.o. l69

Im removing the smog pump because its making noises and I dont care for it, but I noticed that theres one short belt going from the water pump pulley to the smog pump pulley.

I havnt read any threads with this short of a belt so would I just be able to take the belt and pump off completely?

Also since im doing this i might as well get rid of all the vacuum lines but where do I start and what should be plugged/blocked off

Re: smog pump question

I took the belt off and it runs fine. I also took off all the other junk that goes with it too like all the air tubes on the manifolds and then I put plugs in and the air tube connected to the cat. I had a buddy cut it off and weld up the hole in the cat. I think I had one vacuum line that I had to put a little screw into to plug it but that was it.

Re: smog pump question

Sounds about right.

My concern is with the vacuum hoses, and I found this thread that shows a diagram of how to reroute and delete vacuum hoses on the same 84 l69 engine.

Would this be a good route?
