New guy
New to this forum but have had my camaro for years. I have an 88 5.7 and it was left rotting in the sun when I joined the military since I was stationed where I couldnt bring it.
Anyways, it is time to repair and upgrade! Lots of ideas floating around!!!
I have become a huge diesel nutt over the years and knowing that making this a diesel is really goin to be too much, I will upgrading to a turbo...or two on the 5.7. First question of many, what all will I need to do to the rest of the engine/drivetrain if I add a turbo or a twin? Oh, and the T-56 manual tranny will mount right up to the 5.7 right? Is it a pretty touch engine that will handle the power?
Thanks!

Re: New guy
Have you read either of the 2 current threads, in Engine Swap ( sub-forum ) about diesel swaps currently being done? My 6.2 is a virtual bolt-in, so a 6.5 turbodiesel wouldn't take much, and lunati397 is doing a DuraMax, which fits pretty well if you don't mind adding a couple of Borgeson U-joints to the steering. Both of us have found issues with the oil pans, but mine is now fixed, and cost me less than $50, and I showed how anyone could copy it one fine Saturday. Bolting a T56 to a 6.2 / 6.5 has been done, the thread is on DieselPlace.com in the 6.2 sub-forum.

Re: New guy
The picture with my dads Corvette is when it was still running, the one with my son next to it was after it had sat for about 3 years and the one where it is being pulled is after sitting in the florida sun for about 6 years. I just picked it up last weekend and got it back to where I am. I almost cried like a little girl when I lifted the hood and it folded in half!!!
