MSD ignition wires - Are they worth it?

Ok, I've got an 84 TA with a stock L69. Stock HEI. Is it worth the extra $$$ to buy MSD wires? The wires I use, dura last from autozone seem to be a little finicky with staying on the plugs and the distributor sometimes, even causing a misfire every now and then.

Furthermore, is it worth the money to buy an MSD coil and dizzy cap ?

Keep in mind, I just want the best for my stock
Engine, but I am not looking to drag race .... Unless I come across an unsuspecting early 80's ford 5.0 stang

I think the 8.5mm wires from them are definitely worth it. The rest? Not really.

Re: MSD ignition wires - Are they worth it?

This is really one of those IMO questions.

To me, yes. To alot of people, yes. But, there are people (ive encountered a few) that say ign upgrades make little or no improvement and are a waste.

IMO, I would buy performance wires. MSD, maybe. The problem I have is I cant afford $100+ wires. There are some alternatives, if you have heard of streetfire (msd brand) they make 8mm wires that are supposedly pretty good. Im going to go with some 8mm summit wires. (ive got a thread on this myself) The streetfire wires are $40, the summit are only $30.

Id also recommend an upgraded coil. I have a streetfire blaster(?) coil. this was $40.

I personally WOULD NOT recommend platinum spark plugs tho. I had them recommended to me, by people on here even. Come to find, they cause a loss of power. (they get too hot, misfire, making the knock sensor retard the timing. Apparently its just got something to do with the heads, im not positive honestly.) I just put these plugs in about a week ago and found this out 2 days ago. I read it online, and ive noticed it myself. Put copper plugs in.
