Lack of power.
Hi All..
I have an 89 IROC with the 305 TPI. The car really lacks on power. Especially take off. Buts goes pretty good when the RPM's get up.
I have changed the plugs and wires. Set the timing at 6 BTDC. Still no difference. I ran the car to normal temp and disconnected the brownish wire and set the timing and reconnected the wire. Should I disconnect the wire then start the car and set the base timing and then connect wire or does it make a difference? That is the only thing I can think that I may have done.
Also could I move the timing to 8 BTDC and try and possibly to 10 if it makes it run better.. Thank You for all your replies in advance...God Bless US All...John

Re: Lack of power.
OK.. After running it through my head a few days. I reset the timing to 8* BTDC..Runs great now.. I set the timing before by the sticker under the hood which said 6* BTDC..It's simply amazing what 2* on the timing would make..Runs like a new one..
