Car wont run after new starter
Hey guys its a stock 87 lg4 motor. The car wouldnt start the other day and so I took off the starter, got it tested it failed, so I installed a new one.
All I did was put the new one on thats it. I started the car, idled fine. Then I put in gear and tried to drive off and the car got super jerky, didnt want to run, and refused to go more then mph. It ran great before.
Since then ive checked the ignition control module, replaced an ignition coil, and played with the timing.
Now the car wont idle, and when you get it to its rough. If you give it gas it dies. Any ideas?

When you say play with the timing, what did you set it at? Are you sure you did it properly? Did you disconnect the connector to the distributor?
I have to ask, are you sure it was just the starter that was the problem? Whered you have it tested? How did it fail?

To be honest my cousin did the timing, he used a timing light and I forget what he set it at. Wich connector on the distributer are you talking about?
And as for starter the car wouldnt turn on. When you clicked key forward couldnt crank motor. After replace it turns on fine, just wont run. I had it tested at autozone

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but...
Doesn't the ECM get its 12V+ at the starter?
Might check to be sure everything is in order with all the wires that go on with the big one coming from the battery to the starter.
