alright so here is my problem. car has been running good but coming home last night i noticed my temperature gauge was really high, almost to the red line, so i pulled over popped the hood and noticed my fan wasn't running. any ideas on what may be the problem. thanks in advance

 

You probably have a burned out relay. I had the same problem awhile back.

 

alright so dumb question here. where is this relay located at? i cant find it for the life of me

 

It's on the drivers side firewall. look for a green w/white stripe wire below leading to it.

 

Thanks but I'm still lost...I see no relay switches and no green with white wire

 

The relay doesn't look like a typical switch. Either it's rectangular, or oval/rectangular depending on the year. I recommend going to a parts store and having them show you one. A knowledgeable parts guy may know exactly where it is on your car. You need to look under the socket the relay plugs into to see the green w/white wire.

 

Well I replaced the relay and fan still doesn't turn on...does this mean the fan needs to b replaced?

 

Try grounding the green/white stripe wire. If the fan comes on, the motor is still working.
