Car wont stay running
After my trans am gets up to temp if I'm idling at nonstop light it often has trouble staying running. I have to put it in neutral to keep it from having a miss and eventually have the rpm's drop and kill its self, 2 weeks ago it would kill if i went below 10mph. My dad was thinking that either its either getting to hot of a sensor failing does anyone have any suggestions

If you have an idle adjust needle, adjust that for a temp fix. It'll consume more gas if its like my car, but it'll prevent the 'death at stop' effect. My Camaro does that, but I found the culprit. Mine was due to the steering pump not hitting the high pressure switch at a complete left or right turn, since there was a leak. Wouldn't adjust the idle.
But, adjust the idle needle while in a parking lot so it won't die, then try a few tests.
If you're just stopped, and its due to load, it could be various problems. Try adding electrical load first. Electrical load includes turning the steering wheel completely to one side (left or right), turning on A/C, rolling down power windows, etc.
If the problem worsens as you apply electrical load, make sure everything is grounded RIGHT and in the RIGHT LOCATION.
If that doesn't work, try checking and cleaning you IAC. If you have a TPS, check that too. Get a multi-meter and go to town on those things.
Note: when checking your IAC, unplug it. If theres change, then that probably isn't it, if I remember correctly.
If you have MAF, check that. Clean if needed.

I have an 88 tpi and i have already replaced the tpi and iac and also cleaned the maf , where would the idle adjust needle be, also I've turned the lights on at the same time as rolling down the windows but the battery gauge does show that the battery is low when I'm idling but the needle goes up when i accelerate

Most Idle Adjust screws are near the throttle bodies under the hood.
As for the electric voltage gauge, that's about normal. But do the RPMs change when idling, and adding an electrical load?
Also, check the see if your timing is right. Bad timing can kill a car as well.
Or make sure your air flow is good and not obstructed. You might be running a bit rich. An example? If I set my carbs too high (Which I did once having a derp moment), it bogs down the motor, and would eventually stall and kill the car.
Edit: Oh, and check your fuel pressure.
