Suggestions on these heads???
Hey guys Im getting back in the market for a new set of heads and Id like to get your opinions on these 2 heads Ive been looking at they are both made by Dart the first set
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DRT-127322/ are a little bit cheaper the SHP heads or these
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DRT-11311112P/ they are the pro 1 heads. They are gonna go on my 91 which is sitting on the sidelines getting a bunch of other work done. Currently they got trickflow 175 heads which I think are a tad too small and Ill be putting a new cam into it as well since everything is apart. Id like to know if one set is better then the other or if they basically the same? If youve used them were you happy with them? Are they good quality or would another brand be a better choice? Some solid input would be appreciated and as always thanks for your time and have a good day.
P.S- Im only really doing this cause my other car was stolen at the theatre about 2 weeks ago and the insurance company is cutting me a $4700 cheque so might as well grab some new goodies and a cheaper car!!!

Check the airflow on stock TF 175's. You may be surprised. A little work on them could yield the same/better results than the stock Darts at a fraction of the cost.

Re: Suggestions on these heads???
thanks for that info man Im gonna check it out and do some comparison. I was just looking around cause I want to put a new cam in the motor somewhere in the .560 inch lift range and my TF 175's springs are only good to .540 lift. So I figured I would just replace the heads all together with some bigger ones and sell the Trickflows off, of course after I get them cleaned up that is(they only 2 years old so shouldnt be too bad!)

I'm thinking when you take them in, a set of 2.02/1.60 valves, springs to handle that lift level and a port clean up would definitely be cheaper than the alum Darts. The cast iron, I dunno' but those probably aren't fabulous to begin with.

Re: Suggestions on these heads???
From my understanding the SHP heads are just old iron eagle pieces
Hed be in the 175s the cost of new heads by the time he put bigger valves ported etc Id think. Depends what hes expecting I suppose

Re: Suggestions on these heads???
Id love to be able to get 2.02/1.60 valves in the 175's but I dont think that it can be done too small a combustion chamber, maybe Im wrong. Both the heads Im looking at are aluminum just that the SHP are basically aluminum casts of the iron models. I think I'm leaning more towards the PRO 1 heads. probably be a better investment, the machine shops around these areas are the biggest rip off I'd probably almost spend as much having the trickflows worked over as I would buying the pro 1's. Unless someone is out there that has had a seriously worked over set of TS 175's and could say otherwise????
