91 bird is defintly getting the best of me on this one....or worst however you want to look at it..lol. So i still have had no luck on getting the bird to run good. i have been tracing as much of the wiring and vacuum that i can and i have not found any bad vacuum yet although i did find that the wires from the pickup coil on the dist. had been sticking out too far and got pinched by the dist. cap.

now i know this is bad and needs to be replaced reguardless but my question is is this type of problem going to allow the engine to run smoothly at idle with no load but poor in gear under load? or should i keep digging to try and find something else.

like i said in my previous thread i have replace fuel filter, fuel pump relay, map sensor, oxygen sensor, spark plugs, wires and a couplelittle things that i cant quite remember.

well when i got the car it started and ran good until i went to drive home. real sluggish and didnt really want to pick up. seemed like it would just cut out. well i drove it home and parked it then could not get it started again. used starting fluid i found in the back seat to start it but was still hard to start. it ran for a few then cut out and could not get it to start at all again. when i replaced the fuel pump relay, for some odd reason it started all by itself all day but would not start the next day. i still have the problem of it not wanting to go while in gear. it revs and idles just fine in park or neutral. but wont pick up and go in gear just cuts out.

and no i have not checked tranny yet. what would i be checking for?

 

What comes to my mind is if u have a overdrive transmission, the torque converter lockup could be stuck.

 

i do have an overdrive transmission. what is a cheap and easy way to go about testing the torque converter lock up?

 

Try askin bout the tcc solenoid, like wheres it located, in the transmission area. When you find out unplug it and test drive the car.

 

can you tell me where to find it at? what exactly im looking for or what it looks like? if not where would i ask that?
