Horsepower guesses? Dyno soon.
Hey I was wondering what you all thought about my setup and how much HP you think it'll put to the wheels on the Dyno. The cam is a hydraulic flat tappet if you were wondering, going to a solid roller this spring. Just check out on my signature what you think. I'm gonna be spraying 150 on it so you all could guess 1/4 mile times to if you want. Just to have a little fun with a discussion and start a conversation.

Re: Horsepower guesses? Dyno soon.
That's a healthy looking recipe for a 355 you've got there, should run real strong. For track use, I think maybe a little more converter would be ideal, but it should not dissapoint as is. Angle plug 292 heads? I think those were only avaliable thru dealerships as an over the counter performance head. Nice find, they should flow pretty good.
Dyno guess? Through the unlocked converter - 325rwhp, assuming of course the timing and carb are tuned correctly.

With spray? Providing you can get traction and all the parts are well matched, there's no reason you can't get at least a mid 11 second pass. Might be closer to low 11's but getting into the 10's might be questionable.
Dyno HP is only bragging rights. That doesn't guarantee a low ET.

Re: Horsepower guesses? Dyno soon.
Are the heads Ported? Btw, your brave spraying on those old heads. I would say mid to low twelves with spray around mid 13's with motor depending on chassis work and car weight. probably around 400-425 on Engine dyno, and around 325-350 on chassis as stated above, (assuming the engine is tuned properly also depending on dyno setup and corrections). The only thing I would do is get a set of either ported Vortec heads cheap or Dart Pro 1 CNC ported heads. Thats just me. What does the car weigh?
Flow Chart for a worked 292 Angle Plug Head @25 pds, 4in bore (with the larger intake expect relatively the same if unported, inf ported expect a couple more percent)
.100 lift = 96.39cfm
.200 lift = 143.85 cfm
.300 lift = 190.14 cfm
.400 lift = 218.51 cfm
.500 lift = 243.59 cfm
.600 lift = 261.58 cfm
.700 lift = 271.18 cfm
Here is one for a stock Vortec Head no work

@UnstableAviator
These heads were only availible otc, never offered as production, I prefer the 461X heads worked over. We were going high nines low tens. the motor was a short stroke big bore 290ci with the 461X heads and STICK SHIFT. In an '82 Sport Coupe @ 2700lbs in SS/CS.

Re: Horsepower guesses? Dyno soon.
I got bored and ran it through desktop dyno with as close of numbers as I could. I got the flow numbers through a google search, and the cam is different than the one you have, it was the only one that came up when I searched the included cam files for "Nitrous HP", I included a screen shot of the specs it used, if you can give me all the numbers it wants I can run it again and get a closer result. I might even get frisky tomorrow and plug it into desktop drag & see what it says...

If that dyno is right, youre going to run past the redline before you even hit max HP.

I think the heads are going to be the x factor here, not sure what they flow but that's where the horsepower is made.

Without spray or porting sub 400 to the ground
You could make nice gains with that cam size to just go solid flat tappet.

Re: Horsepower guesses? Dyno soon.
I'm guessing the pn for your cam is 12-568-4, as that's what came up when I searched those numbers. Luckily for me the program already had that cam in its files, once I knew the pn I could find it.
Ran the sim twice, first is just motor, second is motor with a 150 shot. Let me know just how close it is when you actually get the motor on the dyno.
If you want I can run it through Desktop Drag, but since for whatever reason they decided not to put a single 3rd gen in the included cars, closest I can get aerodynamically would be a 4th gen
