fuel pressure and detonation
i'm having detonation issues and also egr/air in take temp/TPS errors so i'm replacing them along with the fuel regulator. i checked the pressure and it runs a steady 55psi even at idle...iis this normal? anyone got ideas about the detonation? the z28 likes to run hot a blistering 220 ouch also replacing the radiator and thermostat. oh and btw the timing is correct Last edited by bookoorootoo; Aug 24, 2012 at 06:35 PM.

Re: fuel pressure and detonation
55 psi of fuel pressure is very high. Sounds like you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator installed on the engine. Fuel pressure should be around 44 psi. 220 degrees engine temp is normal for our cars. Detonation or pinging is usually caused by using the wrong octane fuel or the timing is off. Fix all your errors since those could contribute to pinging.
