5.0 H.O info?
ok so admittedly, i'm being half lazy, and half too busy to research it myself, but...
What are the HP / TQ ratings for an older 5.0 H.O motor? (stock)
long story short, my motor and trans are blown in my 91 RS TBI, and, i am considering doing a 5.3L GenIII swap, i have the money to buy the motor and misc parts NOW, but... one of my neighbors in the shop a few doors down from mine said he would rebuild my trans, build up a 5.0 H.O. he has sitting on the ground using some of the parts out of my current motor, and install it for..
uh.... way cheaper than i can list on here... friend discount.. about 1/10 the price that it would cost the average person to do the same at a random shop..
sooooo.... MAN i really want a 5.3, and i do understand the costs and time n effort involved to do the swap, and i'm prepared to do it as i have the money, but.... in the interest of getting my car running and driving again (i'm paying insurance on the damn thing and it's sitting in my shop taking up space) i may just put that ho in there.
but i'd like to feel at least kind of good about the performance values...

cool, almost there, but, i'm not sure what year specifically the motor he's giving me was made... MY car is a 91, the motor he's giving me is not..
hint though, it's Carbureted, so..... probably 1985 or something, he's not putting a TPI system in my car, for that, i may as well do the 5.3L swap if he's going to do all of that...
I'm just guessing when i say 85.... actually, i think the motor was out of a monte carlo or something he said, so no idea what it is really...
Just know its a 5.0 HO motor. so, generally speaking, looking for the performance specs.. obviously they are higher than a 5.0 TBI, but, may NOT be if it's the old carbureted one...
