It's a vacuum line.. But, you need to show pictures or something.. Is it an aftermarket air cleaner or OEM ? Does the line come from the Aircleaner or someplace else on the car?

Re: open element help

Hey, thanks for the reply. Its an edelbrock open air element and the hose is about 1 inch or so in diameter and appears to go to the top of the tappet cover. Can't get pics right now but it comes up off of the tappet cover on the rear passenger side of the motor and i believe it hooked up to the original air cleaner but the edelbrock doesn't have a place for it. Just wondering if i need to plug it or put one of those little filters i see sometimes in the hole or just leave it as is. Thanks again.

Re: open element help

It's the fresh-air supply that provides makeup air into the crankcase to replace what is vacuumed out by the PCV valve.

Needs to be clean and filtered.

Punch an appropriate hole in the base of the inferior open-air thing, and put in one of those little breather filters like the beter stock setup would have had.
