Front intake gasket

Probably not but worth a shot at asking. Is there a way to fix or redo my front intake gasket w/o having to completely take off the intake? I just rebuilt a motor and I used the felpro gasket kit which had rubber front and rear intake gaskets (which I know now that I should have chunked in the trash) and the front one has split from the intake being torqued down so the oil is leaking out of it and going all over the place.

Re: Front intake gasket

I had this once and took a couple tubes of red rtv silicone and gooped it all over the front. Looked ugly but didnt leak anymore.

Re: Front intake gasket

Well, good new and bad news.
Good: It isn't leaking from the intake.
Bad: It's coming from the timing cover.

Used a dye and UV light and found it.

Re: Front intake gasket

You can try cleaning the area with carb cleaner. Use your finger to spread silicone seal where it is leaking.

Re: Front intake gasket

Goop in the silicon and see if it holds. If not, worst it's gonna do is leak and you'll have to pull the timing cover anyway.
