I have the 5 speed 305 tpi on my gta and I want to give it more punch and I've been wanting to do that by sticking a turbo on it but I'm just wondering if it's doable. I know that the manual transmission didn't come with the 350 because the torque would wreck it, would this be the same case if I put a turbo on the 305?

 

from what i've heard about T-5s, you may have to be careful, depending on how much boost you plan on putting out. also the can the engine handle it? how much boost are you thinking of?

 

Drag slicks, drop the clutch at the drag strip, T5 will break...
Street car with less traction / not sticky tires, can last...
I met a guy with 400+ HP on his street car with a T5, had it for 3 years no problems...
I have a 305 TPI with a T5 also... getting a BBS turbo header hopefully within 2 weeks

T5 a tossup. Seen some scatter with not so heavy use, friend had one in a heavy 57 wagon with a stout 383 and pounded on it no issues.
Turbo on a stock bottom end?

 

Honestly never built a turbo 305,but I do have a passing fascination about them.I have read alot about them.So I will be looking forward to your build thread.
