92 Camaro RS 5.0 V8 Auto Not Starting/Cranking
Hello all, having some issues and wonder if anyone might have an idea what might be going on.
Saturday night, went to a friends house, no problems with the car or anything, was ready to leave, got into the car, tried starting my car, and nothing happened. The car won't start, nor turn over or anything. Was completely random with no warning signs. All the lights work and radio and all, but the starter will not work to get the car started.
So far what I have done:
- Replaced Starter.
- Replaced Neutral Safety Switch
- Replaced Starter Relay Switch
I'm still not getting the car to crank. Now, when looking at the wires on the neutral safety switch, was testing all 6 wires out to see if there was power flowing through them, and it seems that the big green thick wire was not getting any power to it, whether or not I tried to crank the engine or what not. I don't know if there is a way to trace that back to something where the power isn't flowing to or not, or if that even has anything to do with it. counting the wires, at the bottom is the ground wire, and the thick green wire is at the top.
I've read about VATS could possibly be the issue, but when I turn the key for the first time, the "SECURITY" Light does not turn on, but after the first time or a few tries later I'll notice it come on. Honestly I've never noticed the security light or I might have before, I really don't know.
So my question is, if there is no power flowing to that thick green wire, what part should I check/replace next, or can it still be the VATS that might be giving me issues and if so how can I bypass this VATS crap?
Alright a little update:
Changed the ignition switch, and still having the same problem. really don't know if it's the VATS or not, there is power going to the starter, roughly 12V, but still can't get it to turn on or anything. Is there any other part that might be causing this or something that I haven't checked out yet?
Fixed. VATS problem.
