Wanting to rip out the ECU and other Electronics.
I seem to remember reading a lot about people on here ripping out their ECU and anything else that is electronic or electroically controlled and just going back to old school. I really like this idea since my 85 is carbed (obviously) and seems like a lot less problems and BS. Since I'd be doing this while the car is down for the next three weeks. I'd like to know what is involved and what needs to be pulled out. hopping someone can help me out or point me in the right direction.

You don't mention what is the state of the wiring at present , is all the original engine wiring still in place?
Since it is already carbed what wires do you expect to remove?
There is a min of wiring needed to make things work

If you ever plan on smogging it fix it and leave it alone
Cant pay off a "test only" station and with an 80s car eventually youll get called in to one.
There are tons of neat Fbodys on cragslist with nice engines...unfortunately they are worthless as theres no smog, efi on them. They wont be able to give them away as they are responsible by law for them to pass when selling even with an as is bill of sale.
not trying to pee in your wheaties just something to think about.
An investment in a good code reader will make fixing what you have much simpler, or borrow one from a buddy.

Please don't chop up the harness any more than it already is. Some poor person in the future might want to make use of it. Unplug the ECM and the check engine light should go out, or just remove the bulb. You should be able to remove or fold-back and conceal the ECM wiring under the hood. You might be glad you did this later on.

they are too lazy to fix

You're in California. COMPLETELY BAD IDEA IN EVERY WAY.
The car won't pass inspection without it.
Repair it.
