Removed engine, full gasket suggestions?
So, in order to paint the engine bay (black) after some body work, we removed the engine. While we have it out, we figured it'd be a great idea to regasket all possible to leak and leaking areas. I have seen many suggestions to go with felpro, so we will, but what set in particular? I know to get the one piece pan gasket and the rear main.
The car is a 88' iroc-z/28 with the tpi 5.0 and t-5 manual. The trans was dealt with last year, so no worries there. We'll most likely also put in a more mild cam (keep reading about using an old lt1 cam?) and some poly mounts. Not sure about porting the intake though.

I'd also tackle the freeze plugs as well.
I'd consider replacing the transmission pump seal since you have access to it now.

Just go to the store and buy the full engine gasket set for your car. You'll get a few you might not use, but it's easier, and probably cheaper, to do it that way, than to piece it together. Plus, you won't worry about overlooking something.
Freeze plugs are a very good suggesion. Very cheap, piece o cake at this point, highly painful if they fail a week after you put it back in. Replace with brass ones.
Of course you'll be renewing all the coolant hoses.
Good time to make sure your pilot bearing, throwout bearing, and all the rest of the clutch system is in good shape if you didn't change it out whenever you last worked on the trans.

Re: Removed engine, full gasket suggestions?
Thank you. I had not even thought about the freeze plugs, but it's so obvious now. Definitely replacing all the coolant stuff, and the trans stuff was done last year. I had not even considered getting the gasket set from the auto store, for some reason I was thinking they wouldn't have quality parts (I'm a mechanic at pep-boys after all).
