TPI manifold leak again

Hello fellow third gens, I am new to this posting stuff so I hope I am posting this in the right area!. So here is my issue I have a fresh rebuilt 383 less than 500 miles. I noticed after a few "normal" drives around that I had a nice size puddle under my car. Thankfully I have some buddys near with stock z28's and TPI's ect. So they pointed me to the the rear of the intake manifold and "wow" j/k behold there was the leak. although on their car they have a oil pressure sensor in that spot behind the dizzy apperently my sensor is right above the oil filter. Before I forget, when I got the engine back I did install the intake on the engine leaving the stock rubber gasket "off" for the china wall and just going with the 1/4 bead of Red RTV , torque all to spec in sequence using my AllDataPro wich is a awsome thing to have at hand, so I thought my RTV job was bad so I wasnt going to question anything because everything else is pretty much brand new , I did the whole job over again and this time using felpro gaskets and "The Right Stuff" all was well "AGAIN" and after coming home from the store a few days later, I saw that dreaded spot under the car same area so I just looked right to the back and sure as I thought LEAK!... This is getting old so I had my wife in the car while I watched ...eeeeKKKKK chill's anyway at a steady 1000-1500 rpm no leak and so I waited and then I rev'd it up and it seemed to spit out about 2500-3000 area just one spot spit out right next to the plug where the sensor would be...any ideas?? input anything would help I am about to call my engine builder with some words! haha , I havent done a leak down test yet.. to be honest I never even done one so that should be interesting

Is there a plug in that port? If so, make sure it's tight/not stripped. If not, install one.

Re: TPI manifold leak again

There is a plug in that port and I tried to loosen it up to make sure it was sealed right but the thing didnt budge! and when I am watching the back of the intake manifold when I rev at high rpm it comes out between the intake and china wall. I just thought of something the torque seq. I used I might have started in the middle all in sequence and went to the front before the rear and I believe rear is after the middle then to the front of the intake!....hmmm I wonder if that would cause that? anyway I am redoing this when I get off shift ...and am deffenetly going to pay attention to the paper who know's maybe I was looking at it upside down, ooh well I will learn by my mistakes it just sucks to redo the work but I am thinking of using a diff. sealant on the china wall not "the right stuff" what do you think?

Re: TPI manifold leak again

Right stuff probably won't work. I use black RTV and lots of it.

Re: TPI manifold leak again

Thanks for the reply I was thinking the same! also do you have those stock torx bolts for you manifold?..I got my car as a basket case so I swapped to stainless with washers being I could even find all the same torx bolts , do you think that might be a issue? just curious

Re: TPI manifold leak again

I don't think so as I used TPI Parts stainless for manifold and they work fine.
