right here we go bought a 1989 trans am gta 5.7 tpi convertible which has been stood up for a while got it turning over which was the starter then had no spark so fitted today new pick up coil ignition module cap and rotor now has great spark by the way thanks to sofakingdom for the help about changing the pickup coil now its not getting no fuel i can hear the fuel pump prime with the ignition on changed the 20a fuse near the battery i have had it running by letting fuel run in the throttle body but wont get any fuel on its own what do you guys think it could be

Sounds like something isn't hooked up somewhere... the ECM isn't aware that the engine is spinning.

Check the plug hanging out the bottom of the dist.

 

yeah thanks mate for the help on the pickup coil the problem is someone has tried playing with it before me and by the dist theres a few plugs hanging does that plug have anything to do with the fuel

 

But of course. The pickup coil pulses are on it, and that's how the ECM knows that the engine is spinning, and that therefore it needs to pulse the injectors. After all, if the engine is sitting still with the key on, no fuel is required; as RPMs increase, the # of pulses needs to increase; and SOMEHOW, the ECM has to be able to "see" the RPMs to know what to do.

Sounds like right now, it's "blind", and has no idea that the engine is spinning, and therefore that it needs to start giving it fuel.
