Advice on what to do with engine
I am new to car engines and am in need of some advice here.
I have a 1987 Iroc that belonged to my grandmother then my mom and now me.
The engine has I believe just over 200,000 miles.
I pulled out the 305 in it to just replace gaskets and check everything was okay and inside I found on the 7th cylinder this

I know the block definitely needs to be honed maybe bored?
This is how the crank looks

I am also looking for any good machine shops out here is SFV,CA if anyone can recommend one
Thankyou

That's classic "no oil".
Whatever you do, ascertain the cause of those running dry.
Can't tell if they spun in the rod; if not, buy a crank kit at any parts store, and leave the block and pistons and rings alone. If the rods got damaged, then it'll have to come apart; and if that's the case, might as well throw it in the trash if it's a 305, and replace it with a 350. Won't cost but about $50 more, and it'll be THE CHEAPEST FUN you ever bought. Years of enjoyment for the price of a couple of hours of clubbing or something.

Sofa,
You're posts are always, always entertaining.
Possible nothing else is wrecked, but I wouldn't put my money on it. rebuild it or...as sofa suggests and I did a few years ago, swap it for a 350. Hell, it's probably cheaper to start over with that than trying to rebuild the 305.

Re: Advice on what to do with engine
My 305 was burning 3 quarts of oil every month, both front and rear main seals were shot and it was smoking. 125K miles on it. Since I had to pull it, I did a lot of searching on the site here, and found the "Swap a 350 in" posts. I did, and I'm super happy that I did. Yes, I sacrificed some mpg, but I'm over 100hp and 100ft-lb of torque happier! haha Drives like a dream too, when I pull out to pass someone, I pass them!
