spring rate on motown 220s

im using these heads on a turbo build and am using a summit 224/224 cam. the factory springs are set up for dual springs and solid roller cams. they are way too stiff for what i need. the outer diameter of these springs are 1.550, will there be any problem with me using these springs for it?

You will need new retainers and possibly locks. Your also going to have to take into account the centering shim when calculating spring height. Bill Mitchell sells the parts needed on his site. The springs I used were big block head valve springs. The 1.550 spring diameter seems to be common in bbs.
