Car clicks and sometimes starts
Ever since it has gotten cold my 84 trans am (carb'd 350) will just click when I try to start it and if I keep turning the key enough eventually it will start. Maybe about 45 seconds of trying. It also idles high after the choke is open which I dont know if the two issues are linked. I double checked the connection to the battery and all was well there. The battery is only 4 months old and when i replaced the battery I had the starting system checked and everything came back perfect. Any ideas why this would happen? The carberator was rebuilt about 6 months ago and never had a problem till it started getting really cold.

Ill try taking them off again and double checking the wire off it and making sure the connections still tight. I can't really think of anything else it would be.

It's possible you got a bad "new" battery, that happens sometimes. Check the connections at your starter on the coil as well as the large ground connector. Could be one of them is loose.

Re: Car clicks and sometimes starts
Not sure about the idle situation, but my RS does the click thing when you go to start it sometimes. Sometimes the starter kicks in right away and other times it will take 4 turns of the key to get it to kick in. What it is is the starter going bad-some call it a dead spot in the starter.
